- 1 cup milk (any type: dairy, almond, oat, etc.)
- 2 tablespoons sugar or sweetener of choice (adjust to taste)
- 1 stick cinnamon
- 4–6 cardamom pods
- 1–2 slices of fresh ginger
- 1–2 cloves (optional)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
- Ground cinnamon or nutmeg (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a gentle boil.
- Add the cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, ginger slices, and cloves if using, to the boiling water.
- Reduce heat and let the spices simmer for about 5 minutes to infuse their flavors.
- Add the black tea leaves or tea bags to the simmering spice mixture. Let it brew for an additional 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and strain the mixture into a separate pot or teapot, discarding the solids.
- Stir in sugar or sweetener while the tea is still hot, adjusting to your taste preference.
- In another small saucepan, warm the milk over medium heat until it is frothy but not boiling.
- Pour the spiced tea into a mug, filling it about three-quarters full.
- Gently pour the warm milk over the spiced tea mixture, allowing the foam to settle on top.
- Stir in vanilla extract for an extra layer of flavor if you like.
- Top with whipped cream and sprinkle ground cinnamon or nutmeg for a delicious finishing touch.
Notes
- This tea can be customized by adjusting the amount of spices or sweetener according to your taste.
- For a richer flavor, use whole milk or a milk alternative that froths well.
- This recipe serves as a wonderful treat on cold days or for a cozy evening.
