- 3–4 small round bread loaves
- 200 grams spaghetti pasta
- 250 grams ground beef or sausage
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 tablespoon Italian herbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Bread Bowls:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cut off the tops of the bread loaves and hollow out the centers to create bowls. Save the tops for serving if desired.
- Cook the Spaghetti:
- Boil water in a large pot and cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Prepare the Meat Sauce:
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and chopped onion, sauté until translucent.
- Add the ground beef or sausage, cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Pour in the marinara sauce and add Italian herbs, salt, and pepper. Simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes.
- Combine Spaghetti and Sauce:
- Mix the cooked spaghetti with the meat sauce until well combined.
- Assemble the Bread Bowls:
- Place the hollowed-out bread bowls on a baking sheet.
- Fill each bowl with the spaghetti mixture.
- Top with shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese.
- Bake:
- Place the filled bread bowls in the preheated oven.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve:
- Remove from oven and sprinkle with fresh parsley.
- Serve immediately, using the reserved bread tops as lids if preferred.
Notes
- For added flavor, you can mix some of the hollowed-out bread into the meat sauce.
- Feel free to experiment with different cheeses or herbs.
- For a vegetarian version, replace meat with vegetables like mushrooms, zucchini, or spinach.
- Ensure the bread is fresh and sturdy to hold the spaghetti mixture well.
