Description
Delicious and spicy grilled pork skewers, perfect for summer barbecues!
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds pork belly, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 10–12 wooden skewers
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon chili paste or sriracha
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Skewers: Soak the wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning.
- Marinate the Pork: In a large bowl, combine the vegetable oil, soy sauce, honey, chili paste, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Add the pork cubes to the marinade, ensuring each piece is thoroughly coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, allowing the flavors to infuse the pork.
- Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F/200°C).
- Assemble the Skewers: Thread the marinated pork cubes onto the soaked skewers evenly.
- Grill the Skewers: Place the skewers on the preheated grill. Cook for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the pork is cooked through and charred on the edges.
- Serve: Remove from the grill and sprinkle with sesame seeds, if desired. Serve hot.
Notes
- If you prefer extra spicy skewers, increase the amount of chili paste or sriracha.
- For added flavor, consider adding a splash of lime juice to the marinade.
- Ensure the grill is well-oiled to prevent the skewers from sticking.
- These skewers can also be cooked in an oven preheated to 400°F (200°C) for about 15-20 minutes if a grill is unavailable.
