- 1 (12-ounce) bag mini marshmallows
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 1½ cups crushed graham crackers (about 10–12 full sheets)
- 1½ cups mini marshmallows (for topping)
- 2 cups milk chocolate chips (or chopped milk chocolate bars)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal. This step ensures your s’mores Rice Krispie Treats pop out cleanly once set.
- Melt the Marshmallows: In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, stir in the 12-ounce bag of mini marshmallows. Stir constantly until fully melted and smooth. Remove from heat.
- Mix in the Cereal and Graham Crackers: Working quickly, fold in the Rice Krispies cereal and crushed graham crackers. Stir until everything is well coated in the marshmallow mixture.
- Press into the Pan: Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Press it down gently using a greased spatula or clean hands. Be careful not to compact it too firmly, or the bars will turn out too dense.
- Add the Toppings: While the base is still warm, sprinkle the remaining mini marshmallows and milk chocolate chips over the top. Lightly press them into the surface so they adhere.
- Optional Toasting: For an authentic s’mores look and flavor, place the dish under the broiler for 1–2 minutes to lightly toast the marshmallows and melt the chocolate. Keep a close eye—marshmallows brown fast!
- Cool and Slice: Let the treats cool at room temperature for about 30–40 minutes until set. Slice into squares and serve.
