Description

A classic sloppy joe recipe made with lean ground beef and a flavorful sauce, served on hamburger buns.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds Lean Ground Beef
  • 1/2 Onion (diced)
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper (diced into small pieces)
  • 1 Tablespoon Minced Garlic
  • 2 cups Ketchup
  • 1 Tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon Mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Chili Powder
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 8 Hamburger Buns

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium high heat.
  2. Add in the ground beef, onions and bell peppers.
  3. Sauté for 5-7 minutes, breaking up the beef as it browns, until the ground beef is no longer pink and the veggies are soft.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about a minute until you can start to smell the garlic.
  5. Stir in the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, dijon mustard, chili powder, salt, pepper and water.
  6. Bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat to medium low and cook for 10-12 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  7. Serve warm over the buns and enjoy!
