- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream together softened butter with granulated and brown sugars until light and fluffy (3-5 minutes).
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually combine dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just mixed.
- Fold in chocolate chips and nuts if using.
- Pour half the batter into the prepared pan, layer cookie dough on top, then add remaining brownie batter.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until edges are set but center remains soft.
- Cool before slicing.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, consider adding a sprinkle of sea salt on top before baking.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
