Ingredients

- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons pure maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
- Optional: ¼ cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fluffy.
- Beat in the egg, maple syrup, and vanilla until well combined.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients; mix until just combined.
- Fold in white chocolate chips and nuts if using.
- Chill dough for at least 30 minutes.
- Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden but centers remain soft.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- For a chewier cookie, do not overbake.
- Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature.
