  • 1/2 cup chocolate shavings
  • Fresh whole cherries and blueberries for garnish
  • Chocolate ganache for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a rectangular cake pan.
  2. Prepare the Cake Batter: In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth. Gradually add hot water or coffee to the batter, mixing until fully incorporated.
  3. Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely, and then slice it horizontally into two equal layers.
  4. Prepare the Whipped Cream: In a chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  5. Assemble the Cake: Place the first layer of the cake on a serving plate. Spread a generous layer of whipped cream over the cake. Add an even layer of halved cherries. Add the second layer of cake on top. Cover the top with more whipped cream.
  6. Decorate the Cake: Drizzle chocolate ganache over the cake. Sprinkle chocolate shavings on top. Garnish with whole cherries and blueberries.
