Ingredients
- 4 hot dogs
- 4 hot dog buns
- 2 cups prepared chili
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or cilantro
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 cup diced onions (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
-
Prepare the Hot Dogs: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the hot dogs and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Set aside.
-
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
Assemble the Chili Dogs: Place the hot dog buns in a baking dish. Place a cooked hot dog in each bun. Pour about 1/2 cup of chili over each hot dog. Sprinkle the cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese evenly over the chili.
-
Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
-
Garnish: Remove from the oven. Top each chili dog with a dollop of sour cream. Sprinkle with chopped parsley or cilantro and diced onions if using.
Notes
- For an extra kick, add jalapeños to the chili or on top of the cheese before baking.
- Toast the buns lightly before assembling for added texture.
- Use your favorite type of cheese blend for different flavors.
- Ensure the chili is warm before applying to the hot dogs for even cooking.
