Description

A delicious casserole combining ground beef, macaroni, and cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook Macaroni:
    – Boil water in a large pot. Add a pinch of salt and cook the elbow macaroni until al dente, according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Beef Mixture:
    – In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until softened.
    – Add the ground beef to the skillet, season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook until the beef is browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
    – Stir in the tomato sauce and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Assemble the Casserole:
    – Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    – In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked macaroni, beef mixture, and sour cream. Mix well.
    – Spread half of the macaroni mixture in a greased baking dish. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
    – Add the remaining macaroni mixture and top with the rest of the cheese.
  4. Bake:
    – Place the casserole in the preheated oven. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese on top is melted and bubbly.
  5. Garnish and Serve:
    – Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving, if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a touch of Worcestershire sauce to the beef mixture.
  • Substitute cheddar cheese with Monterey Jack or mozzarella for a different taste.
  • Add red pepper flakes if you prefer a bit of heat.
  • You can make this dish ahead of time and refrigerate it. Reheat in the oven before serving.
