Description
This delicious tart features caramelized pears topped with chopped pistachios, all nestled in a flaky puff pastry.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 ripe pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1/2 cup shelled pistachios, chopped
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons honey (optional, for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Caramelize Pears: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sugar, stirring until it begins to dissolve. Stir in lemon juice and vanilla extract. Add the pear slices, ensuring they are evenly coated. Cook for about 10 minutes until they are soft and caramelized. Stir occasionally.
- Prepare Puff Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to fit your tart pan. Lay the pastry into the tart pan and trim any excess edges.
- Arrange Pears: Arrange the caramelized pear slices neatly over the puff pastry.
- Season and Top: Sprinkle the ground cinnamon and salt evenly over the pears. Scatter the chopped pistachios over the top.
- Bake: Place the tart in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
- Glaze (optional): If desired, warm the honey slightly and brush it over the tart for a glossy finish.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the tart to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Use ripe but firm pears for the best texture in the tart.
- Keep an eye on the caramelized sugar to prevent it from burning.
- Serve the tart warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for added indulgence.
- You can substitute puff pastry with phyllo dough for a lighter texture; just be sure to layer several sheets with melted butter between each.
